Après le succès de « Little Cindy », le réalisateur Billy Bob Ndive Lifongo est en préparation d’ un nouveau film intitulé « Little Sam, Big Sam », qui traite des lacunes du système médical d’un pays montagneux en proie à l’instabilité. Le second film du genre après « Le serpent de Bronze » de Thierry Ntamack. INTERVIEW. ENGLISH VERSION FOLLOW

Le Film Camerounais (L.F.C) : Bonjour Billy Bob Ndive Lifongo. Vous êtes le réalisateur du très attendu « Little Sam, Big Sam ». Mais de quoi parle le film?

B.B.L (Billy Bob Ndive Lifongo) : Un docteur dénommé Sam se bat pour sauver des vies dans un contexte de tension socio-politique grandissante dans le pays, et un blackout internet vient empirer la situation déjà mauvaise de cet état montagneux. Remis dans le contexte camerounais, il me semble évident que notre pays doit impérativement améliorer ses infrastructures médicales.

L.F.C : Pourquoi cette thématique et pourquoi l’avez-vous acceptée ?

BBL : J’ai choisi ce sujet parce qu’il s’agit d’une problématique actuelle au Cameroun. Des patients meurent chaque jour faute d’argent ou d’un seul équipement manquant. J’ai décidé de réaliser le film en raison de son scénario, si touchant et plein d’intrigues.

L.F.C : Avez-vous choisi le titre « Little Sam, Big Sam”, parce que vous vous êtes aperçu depuis « Little Cindy » que le mot « Little porte chance, n’est-ce pas? (Rire)

B.B.L : Hahaha. Et bien, chaque artiste a son style. J’ai réalisé « Little Cindy » il y a 2 ans maintenant, le film a fait parlé de lui et a été un succès. Mais croyez-moi, « Little Sam, Big Sam » n’a rien à voir avec « Little Cindy ». Que les deux films soient réalisés par moi est purement une coïncidence. « Little Cindy » a remporté plusieurs prix nationaux et à l’étranger. Idem pour NECROMANCY, un téléfilm réalisé pour MYMOVIE TV l’année dernière, et dont j’ai constaté qu’il a très bien été accueilli par le public.

L.F.C : Comment s’est passé le tournage de « Little Sam, Big Sam »?

B.B.L : Hummm. Et bien, je crois que « Little Sam, Big Sam » est probablement le film le plus challengeant que j’ai eu à réaliser jusque là. Cinquante pour cent du film met en scène l’univers médical et il n’a pas été évident de le transcrire comme nous le souhaitions. Nous avons rencontré beaucoup de difficultés, du casting, à l’équipe du film en passant par les lieux de tournage. Heureusement, Dieu a toujours été là pour nous accompagner. Nous avons tourné le film en numérique 4K, ce qui n’était pas aussi évident du tout. Il a été tourné à Buéa au Cameroun, et à Londres en Angleterre.

Le casting inclus notamment : Jeffrey EPULE, NCHIFOR VALERY, Glory CHANDO Cris MBEAOH etc. L’équipe technique se composaient de Ralph Obi Tambe comme éclairagiste en chef, Palmer NGALE comme directeur de production, Chenwi Franzel comme directeur artistique, Agbor Obed Agbor comme directeur de photographie, Enoh Koree Faith comme maquilleuse FX.

L.F.C : Quelles sont les prochaines étapes?

Eh bien, le film est actuellement en post-production et j’espère qu’il pourra sortir d’ici mai 2020. Et bien entendu, nous ferons la première du film au Cameroun et à Londres, et prévoyons de le présenter à la plupart des festivals internationaux.

INTERVIEW : « OUR COUNTRY NEEDS TO IMPROVE ON HER HEALTH FACILITIES » (Billy Bob Ndive Lifongo)

After the success of « Little Cyndy », the Director Billy Bob Ndive Lifongo is making a new movie named « Little Sam, Big Sam », which talks about the issues of the medical system in a mountainous and unstable Country. The second movie of this type after Thierry Ntamack’s « Le Serpent de Bronze ». INTERVIEW.

L.F.C : Hello Billy Bob Ndive Lifongo. You are the director of the already awaited ” Little Sam, Big Sam”. But what is the film about?

BBL : A certain Dr. Sam struggles to save lives amidst the growing socio political tension in the country, the internet blackout came to worsen the already bad situation of the mountainous State.

Talking about contextualization of Cameroon I think it’s very obvious that our country needs to improve on her health facilities.

L.F.C : Why this topic and why did you accept to directed it?

BBL : I chose the topic because it’s a contemrary Cameroonian problem, we see patients dying everyday because of lack of money or lack of one medical equipment.

I decided to direct the movie because of the storyline which is so touching and intriguing.

L.F.C : You choose the title ” Little Sam, Big Sam”, because you have realized since “Little Cindy” that the word “Little” brings chance right ? (Laugh)

B.B.L : Hahahahaha, well every creative person has their style, I did LITTLE CINDY 2 years ago and it made a lot of noise and success but believe me Little Sam Big Sam has nothing to do with Little Cindy it’s just a coincidence that both movies are from me. Little Cindy has won a couple of awards both home and abroad. As for NECROMANCY it’s a Tele film I did for MYMOVIE TV last year and I realized the public also appreciated it a lot.

L.F.C : How was the shooting of “Little Sam, Big Sam” ?

BBL : Well hmmmmm I think Little Sam Big Sam is the most challenging movie I have ever done. It’s 50% a medical set up movie and it wasn’t easy getting it all right. From the cast to crew to locations everything was very difficult but thank God will sailed through. We shot the movie on 4K which was not that easy at all.

The movie was shot in Buea Cameroon and London In the UK

Some of the main casts includes: Jeffrey Epule, NCHIFOR VALERY, Glory CHANDO Cris MBEAOH etc as for the crew we had Ralph Obi as the GAFFER, Palmer NGALE as Production Manager, Chenwi Franzel as Production Designer, Agbor Obed Agbor as Cinematographer, Enoh KorreFaith as Make-up and Sfx.

L.F.C : What are the next steps?

B.B.L : Well the movie is in post production now and am hoping that by May 2020 the movie will be out. Yeah we are going to premiere the movie in Cameroon and London and also send it to most prestigious festivals around the world
